Once upon a time in a far distant work place we went searching for a Chinese take out with good food that delivers ... GREAT WALL was the answer then (More than 7 years ago.) and it is the answer now! This little "hole in the wall" (Yes, it is rather tight quarters and even with the recent renovations the dining space is what lowers the rating from a 5 star to a 4 star.) produces really good FRESH Chinese. Yes, I read a reviewer saying this is not THE BEST Chinese food they have had but when you consider that this is a small operation that keeps pumping good food at amazingly reasonable prices you have to say GREAT WALL for your Chinese choice in the Northfield, Linwood, Pleasantville, and Egg Harbor Township area! The people who work at GREAT WALL are friendly and its clear that this is a family operation. I have watched the kids chopping tips off green beans with mom and dad. You can see your food being prepared so you know what's going on! Their take out specials run under $6.00 for a very filling meal that for me includes my choice of soup. The soup choice is easy for me because at THE GREAT WALL they make Hot and Sour Soup the way it should be made. The broth has the proper brown tint to it (Watch out for those places with yellowish broth.) and the ingredients clearly are fresh including crisp veggies. The taste brings the desired Hot and Sour neither to the extreme. It's plain tasty. They serve all the traditional choices and I know that my favorites always are served hot and taste good. So, if you are in one of our local hotels looking for Chinese take out or if you work or live in the area ... make sure you call GREAT WALL!!

Pretty decent for take out Chinese. Not sure why this is rated as expensive - $$$$. I think it is more like $$ at best and again - I did not feel any MSG at all. Which is quite substantial. Here are my 2 cents: - The chicken lo mein: so so good. We got a large one and it was just fantastic - in every sense of the word. The noodles were fresh and clearly well done. The chicken strips - just right. All the vegetables were cooked to perfection. Finally - the seasoning was so good. I would get this dish from here like a couple of hundreds of times! - We ordered the food for home delivery. And when I was ordering - I made sure to check if they could send some hot, red chilli oil. And they did. That got brownie points - from me - for sure. - The shrimp with Chinese vegetables: The vegetables were great - but the sauce was a little overpowering - for one recipient at least. Not too crazy though - per me - I liked it. That's why still 4.5 stars. The Shrimp was simply fantastic! - The delivery came with a complimentary portion of white rice. It was fresh and - let's keep it simple - good old fashioned, steamed, white rice. All in all - a job - so well done. I will do it again. And all over again! Why not 5 stars you ask? It was home delivery and not dining at the property. My rating criteria as such.

I've had better Chinese food but they seem to be one of the better in the area. I've only gone here for lunch and for 5$ you get a decent amount of food!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
